Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Overspeed correction scheme for dc motor using artifical intelligent approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The conventional PI, PD and PID controllers were used as a control strategy for various industrial processes from many years due to their simplicity in operation.

Electronic Control of Spin Alignment in pi-Conjugated Molecular Magnets

open access: yes, 2003
Intramolecular spin alignment in pi-conjugated molecules is studied theoretically in a model of a Peierls-Hubbard chain coupled with two localized spins. By means of the exact diagonalization technique, we demonstrate that a spin singlet (S=0) to quartet

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Disturbance observer-based L(1) robust tracking control for single-link flexible-joint manipulator systems

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In this study, a novel disturbance observer-based (DOB) [inline-formula] robust anti-disturbance tracking control problem is discussed for a kind of single-link flexible-joint manipulator with separate types of disturbances.

Optimal Renormalization Scale and Scheme for Exclusive Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We use the BLM method to fix the renormalization scale of the QCD coupling in exclusive hadronic amplitudes such as the pion form factor and the photon-to-pion transition form factor at large momentum transfer.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Optimal GA-based PI control of SVC compensator improving voltage stability

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2018
In this paper, a genetic algorithm is used for the optimization and tuning of PI controller parameters in order to improve the performance of SVC compensator in both dynamic and static response.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
