The Landscape and Regulation of Histone Crotonylation in Mammalian Gametes and Early Embryos

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Histone crotonylation undergoes a genome‐wide transition from broad domains to canonical narrow peaks during minor zygotic genome activation (ZGA). This remodeling is required for proper major ZGA and blastocyst formation. Disruption of this transition by transcriptional inhibition, metabolic perturbation, or HDAC1 dysfunction impairs embryonic ...

How cold is too cold? A theoretical analysis of the optimal trigger for index insurance for frost damage to crops

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Crop insurance is undoubtedly an extremely valuable element in protecting agricultural businesses, but in many cases standard indemnity‐based products have had very low uptake due to high transaction costs elevating premiums to unaffordable levels.

Hochschild cohomology and derived Picard groups

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2004
We interpret Hochschild cohomology as the Lie algebra of the derived Picard group (in the sense of Rouquier-Zimmermann and Yekutieli) and deduce that it is preserved under derived equivalences.

Genetic Diversity, Adaptation, Wild Introgression, and Coat Color Mutation of Golden Yak

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Genetic diversity, adaptation, wild introgression, and coat color mutation of golden yak from two populations on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau. ABSTRACT The golden yak lives on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau with a golden coat and adapts to high altitudes and strong ultraviolet environment. The golden coat is a prominent phenotype in many domesticated species,

Insight into the optimal control strategies on corruption dynamics using fractional order derivatives

open access: yesScientific African
The fractional-order design for conceptualizing corruption offers several advantages on the corruption spreading over the integer-order corruption models such as acknowledgement of the intricate dynamics of corruption, including corruption super ...

Raman Spectroscopy–Based Glucose Feed Control Automates Malic Acid Fermentation

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy enables automated, closed‐loop glucose feeding for malic acid production with Ustilago trichophora. Online PLS regression of glucose and malic acid provides input for PID control to maintain 20 g/L glucose. The feed is dynamically adjusted and stopped in response to metabolic demand and product inhibition, demonstrating practical ...

Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.

Combinatorial aspects of nodal curves

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2006
To any nodal curve C one associates its degree class group, a combinatorial invariant which plays an important role in the compactification of the generalized Jacobian of C and in the construction of the Néron model of the Picard variety of families of ...

Differential Galois Theory and Hopf Algebras for Lie Pseudogroups

open access: yesAxioms
According to a clever but rarely quoted or acknowledged work of E. Vessiot that won the prize of the Académie des Sciences in 1904, “Differential Galois Theory” (DGT) has mainly to do with the study of “Principal Homogeneous Spaces” (PHSs) for finite ...

Picard Groups of Some Quot Schemes

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices
Abstract Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve over the field of complex numbers ${\mathbb{C}}$ of genus $g(C)>0$. Let $E$ be a locally free sheaf on $C$ of rank $r$ and degree $e$. Let $\mathcal{Q}:=\textrm{Quot}_{C/{\mathbb{C}}}(E,k,d)$ denote the Quot scheme of quotients of $E$ of rank $k$ and degree $d$. For $k>0$ and $d\
