Nomenclature proposal for picobirnavirus
Picobirnaviruses have been identified in the feces of a broad range of hosts by several international research groups. Because there is no standard nomenclature for these viruses, we propose a clear and unique name for each strain.

Genetic diversity of bovine Picobirnavirus, Brazil [PDF]
Picobirnaviruses (PBVs) are emerging and opportunistic viruses with possible zoonotic potential. In this study, we present the detection, molecular characterization, and genotypic differentiation of PBVs from genogroup I in bovine stool samples from different Brazilian regions.

The picobirnavirus crystal structure provides functional insights into virion assembly and cell entry [PDF]
Double-stranded (ds) RNA virus particles are organized around a central icosahedral core capsid made of 120 identical subunits. This core capsid is unable to invade cells from outside, and animal dsRNA viruses have acquired surrounding capsid layers that are used to deliver a transcriptionally active core particle across the membrane during cell entry.

Genogroup I and II Picobirnaviruses in Respiratory Tracts of Pigs [PDF]
Sequence-independent amplification and specific reverse transcription PCRs identified genogroup I and II picobirnaviruses in respiratory tracts of pigs. These data expand knowledge of picobirnavirus diversity and tropism.

Virome of post-weaned diarrhoeic pigs and healthy cohorts in England [PDF]
Background Post-weaning diarrhoea (PWD) is a disease syndrome that negatively impacts pig health, welfare and productivity. PWD typically occurs within two weeks of weaning and coincides with significant physiological changes, including villus atrophy ...

Cloning of Human Picobirnavirus Genomic Segments and Development of an RT-PCR Detection Assay
Nearly full-length genomic segments 2 and a partial-length genomic segment 1 of human picobirnavirus were cloned and sequenced. The clones were derived from viruses obtained from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients in Atlanta, Georgia (strains 3-GA-91 and 4-GA-91) and a nonHIV-infected person from China (strain 1-CHN-97).

Comparison of gut viral communities between autism spectrum disorder and healthy children [PDF]
IntroductionAutism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, which brings a great burden to the family and society. Gut microbiota is considered to be an important factor in ASD that easily affects function and development of the ...

Genome characteristics of atypical porcine pestivirus from abortion cases in Shandong Province, China [PDF]
Background Atypical porcine pestivirus (APPV) is a novel, highly variable porcine pestivirus. Previous reports have suggested that the virus is associated with congenital tremor (CT) type A-II in piglets, and little information is available about the ...
