Regeneration of the lizard heart after cryoinjury

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Lizards are renowned for their tremendous potential to heal tissues and organs after injury, but little is known about myocardial regeneration in reptiles generally. Here, we study cardiac regeneration in the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) to fill the knowledge gap between traditional models of poikilothermic (zebrafish) and ...

Semaglutide impacts skeletal muscle to a similar extent as caloric restriction in mice with diet‐induced obesity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Four weeks of semaglutide treatment causes significant reductions in total body weight, fat mass, lean mass, and grip strength in mice with diet induced obesity. Mice treated with semaglutide lost a greater amount of total body weight and fat mass compared to mice fed fed a calorie matched diet.

Collagen remodeling in equine exuberant granulation tissue characterized by Picrosirius Red staining

open access: yes, 2023
Exuberant granulation tissue (EGT) is a disorder of second intention wound healing at distal limbs of horses. EGT is characterized by hyperproliferating granulation tissue. During the proliferative phase, myofibroblasts produce the immature collagen III which is later replaced by the mature collagen I in the remodeling phase.

Caloric restriction and aerobic exercise differentially counteract muscle–tendon dysfunction following diet‐induced obesity in C57BL/6J mice

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Diet‐induced obesity induced fibro‐adipogenic remodelling of the muscle–tendon unit, characterized by increased fibrosis, reduced specific force, impaired relaxation kinetics, elevated hysteresis, and reduced aerobic capacity and glucose tolerance.

Effect of Tokishakuyakusan on Anemia in a Rat Model of Salt‐Sensitive Hypertension

open access: yesTraditional &Kampo Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Anemia is prevalent in patients with cardiac and renal diseases and is associated with morbidity and mortality. Consequently, new strategies for managing anemia are expected in these patients. Tokishakuyakusan, a Kampo medicine, is clinically used to treat various conditions, such as anemia and chronic nephritis.

Picrosirius red staining for histology v1

open access: yes
Picrosirius red (PSR, aka Sirius red) staining is a histochemical technique for the identification of collagen and its specificity makes it suitable for robust quantitative assessments of collagen in tissue sections. Such digital image analysis is particularly valuable for the evaluation of fibrosis and tissue remodelling.

Dual Action of Dipyridamole in Experimental Rheumatoid Arthritis: Suppression of Joint Inflammation and Upregulation of Muscle Anabolism via Adenosine and AMPK Pathways

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 78, Issue 7, Page 1535-1553, July 2026.
Objective Rheumatoid sarcopenia, characterized by the progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and function, is a frequent comorbidity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), linked to prolonged, severe systemic inflammation. Purinergic signaling (adenosine, AMP, and ATP) plays a crucial role in inflammation, myogenesis, and muscle hypertrophy.

Quantification of collagen fibers in canine uteri treated with medroxyprogesterone acetate

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira
: Collagen plays essential roles in remodeling uterine tissue during decidualization, implantation, pregnancy and involution. To understand whether the progestational agent medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) can modify the organization and deposit of ...
