Picturebooks and narratology

The chapter demonstrates how picturebook research benefits from narratology in understanding its unique structure and its relationships with other kinds of narratives. A semiotic model is presented, showing that story in picturebooks is told in cooperation of two narrators, embedded in two separate discourses, verbal and visual.
