Targeted NGS: A Cost-Effective Approach to Molecular Diagnosis of PIDs

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Background: Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are a diverse group of disorders caused by multiple genetic defects. Obtaining a molecular diagnosis for PID patients using a phenotype-based approach is often complex, expensive, and not always successful ...

Whole exome sequencing (WES) approach for diagnosing primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) in a highly consanguineous community

Clinical Immunology, 2020
Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are a heterogeneous group of monogenic inborn errors of immunity. The genetic causes of these diseases can be identified using whole exome sequencing (WES).

Gene therapy for PIDs: Progress, pitfalls and prospects

open access: yesGene, 2013
Substantial progress has been made in the past decade in treating several primary immunodeficiency disorders (PIDs) with gene therapy. Current approaches are based on ex-vivo transfer of therapeutic transgene via viral vectors to patient-derived ...

PID

2014
Core aim of the Master Thesis is the mathematical modeling and development of a flexible distributed control system with main application on integrated and innovative energy systems. Features of the system are a) the exploitation of hydrocarbons as alternative energy feedstock, b) utilization of hydrogen as intermediate energy source and c) the ...

GA-PID and Conventional-PID Based Analysis of PID controlled UPFC Stabilizer

Journal of Pharmaceutical Negative Results, 2022
In this paper, PID optimization (CPID) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) are used to tune the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller to design a coordination stabilizer based on PID-UPFC. These two are often used to adjust the parameters of the PID controller. The proposed method is easy to implement and offers better stability.

Neuroprotective electrical stimulation of cerebellar fastigial nucleus attenuates expression of periinfarction depolarizing waves (PIDs) and inhibits cortical spreading depression

open access: yesBrain Research, 1999
In rat, electrical stimulation of the cerebellar fastigial nucleus (FN) for 1 h reduces the volume of focal ischemic infarctions produced by occluding the middle cerebral artery (MCAO), even 10 days later.
