Ratooning pigeonpea in maize-pigeonpea intercropping: Productivity and seed cost reduction in eastern Tanzania

Field Crops Research, 2017
Abstract Smallholder farmers frequently suffer limited resources and cannot afford to buy improved seeds every season resulting in poor crop establishment. Strategies are needed to reduce costs of crop establishment while maintaining or improving productivity.

Foraging by pollinators in pigeonpea

Indian Journal of Entomology, 2018
The foraging initiation, cessation and duration/day of the pollinators of pigeonpea were evaluated to estimate the optimum timing of pesticides application at blooming stage. The foraging initiation and cessation were observed on sunny days with normal temperature to bring out the foraging duration/day.

Pigeonpea

2012
The document attempts to distil what is currently known about the likely impacts of climate change on the commodities and natural resources that comprise the mandate of CGIAR and its 15 Centres. Nutritional Benefits of Pigeonpea

2016
Pigeonpea is a rich source of food proteins that is generally grown under risk-prone marginal lands. It occupies an important place among pulses and has been rated the best as far as its biological value is concerned. It has been recommended for a balanced diet with cereals, especially to fill in the nutritional gap for proteins among the poorer ...

Field Evaluation of Pigeonpea Genotypes against Pigeonpea Sterility Mosaic Virus (PPSMV)

International Journal of Pure & Applied Bioscience, 2018
Pigeonpea genotypes obtained from ICRISAT and AICRP centers were evaluated under field condition during Kharif 2015 for resistance to PPSMV at ZARS, GKVK, UAS, Bengaluru, to identify the resistant source. Ten advanced varietal trial entries tested against SMD. None of the entries showed resistant reaction or moderately resistant reaction to SMD.

Insect pollinators and productivity of Pigeonpea

Indian Journal of Entomology, 2016
The importance and impact of insect pollinators on pigeonpea productivity has been studied. Fourteen major insect pollinators/visitors species were recorded during blooming stage, out of which 13 belong to the Hymenoptera. The productivity parameters viz., number of seed set/pod (3.53± 0.23), pod set (26.67± 1.43%) and productivity (1166.51± 6.26 kg/h)
