[Pigment epithelium of the eye in the human embryo in vitro].
TSitologiia i genetika, 1985A model is developed and described for studying cytological differentiation of pigment epithelium cells of the human eye in vitro. It is shown that the differentiation pattern depends on the stage of embryogenesis.

Transport in Eye Epithelia: Ciliary Epithelium and Retina Pigment Epithelium
1978The ciliary epithelium and the retina pigment epithelium constitute the main sites of the blood-ocular barrier and their functions are the restriction of permeability and the secretion of electrolytes and nonelectrolytes, which are of importance for the maintenance of the intraocular pressure in the case of the ciliary epithelium, and the nutrition of ...

Outer Segments of Photoreceptors and the Retinal Pigment Epithelium
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1970The pigment epithelium has two types of processes: (1) relatively slender, fringe-like villi projecting between the outer segments of the photoreceptors, and (2) broad, rampart-like cytoplasmic sheets encompassing the tips of the outer segments.

Proliferating Pigment Epithelium
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1967A snail-like formation of pigment epithelium with interstitial layers of hyalin-like substance was observed in the subretinal fluid of an eye with long-standing secondary detachment. This spiral formation is thought to be formed by the growth of either free-floating daughter cells of proliferated pigment epithelium or a druse that separated from the ...

[Glutathione peroxidase activity of frog eye pigment epithelium].
Biokhimiia (Moscow, Russia), 1981A highly active glutathione peroxidase (80% of which is localized in the water-soluble fraction) was detected in frog eye pigment epithelium tissue. It was shown that more than 75% of the glutathione peroxidase activity of the pigment epithelium tissue is bound to the Se-dependent enzyme.

The induction of lipid peroxidation in the eye pigment epithelium of pigmented rabbits by the Fe2+ + ascorbate and xanthine--xanthine oxidase systems did not result in accumulation of malonic dialdehyde. In albino rabbits the lipid peroxidation of the non-pigmented pigment epithelium and retina occurred at a high rate under the same conditions.

The efficiency of lipid peroxidation inhibition by retinal pigment epithelium of pigmented rabbits is higher than that of albino rabbits. The superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities are nearly the same in both tissues; the alpha-tocopherol content is higher in retinal pigment epithelium of albino animals; the oxidation of the pigment

[Etiopathogenic aspects of flow-like atrophy of the pigment epithelium of eye].
Bulletin des societes d'ophtalmologie de France, 1990"Like flows" atrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium are observed in multiple cases of lesions of the posterior pole. The authors are reported one observation of different diseases with like flows atrophy.

[Serous central chorioretinopathy. Acute autofluorescence of the pigment epithelium of the eye].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 1999The lack of histopathological material has placed limitations on our knowledge on lipofuscin in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR). This study was designed to document the pathological changes of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in CSCR using in vivo recording of fundus autofluorescence.Fundus autofluorescence was documented in 62 eyes of 44 ...
