Foundation Technology Development Of Hydraulic Structure On Peat Soil

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Hidraulik, 2018
Many hydraulic structures in Indonesia are built on peat soil, especially in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Papua. This soil has bad geotechnical characteristic for building foundation, because its low of shear strength, high potential of land subsidence and ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Fluorescence decay data analysis correcting for detector pulse pile-up at very high count rates

open access: yes, 2017
Using Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) for the purpose of fluorescence lifetime measurements is usually limited in speed due to pile-up.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

A Nonlinear SW Model for Laterally Loaded Piles in the Proximity of Sandy Slopes with Consideration of Slope Surface Deformation

open access: yesBuildings
This paper develops a nonlinear strain wedge (SW) model for analyzing laterally loaded piles installed in the proximity of sandy slopes, with consideration of slope surface deformation.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Internal dynamics of the galaxy cluster Abell 545

open access: yes, 2011
Diffuse radio emission in galaxy clusters, and their connection with cluster mergers, are still debated. We seek to explore the internal dynamics of the radio halo cluster Abell 545.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Isostaticity and Mechanical Response of Two-Dimensional Granular Piles

open access: yes, 2004
We numerically study the static structure and the mechanical response of two-dimensional granular piles. The piles consist of polydisperse disks with and without friction.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
