Development of LRFD Procedures for Bridge Pile Foundations in Iowa: Volume II: Field Testing of Steel Piles in Clay, Sand, and Mixed Soils and Data Analysis, September 2011

open access: yes, 2011
In response to the mandate on Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) implementations by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on all new bridge projects initiated after October 1, 2007, the Iowa Highway Research Board (IHRB) sponsored these ...

Lateral Pile Group Effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
En jacket er en vanlig benyttet fundamenttype for offshore vindmøller og plattformer. Jacketen består av et fagverk med flere bein som overfører laster til havbunnen.

Numerical Assessment of Laterally Loaded Pile Group Efficiency

open access: yes, 2021
The key factors governing the lateral response of a pile group include the pile-head connection rigidity, the pile-soil relative stiffness, the pile spacing ratio, the pile group size and the pile/soil nonlinear response.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Homogenized additional stress coefficient of foundation piles based on generalized mode of pile shaft resistance

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
Based on the stress field calculated by the Mindlin stress theory with the pile diameter effect considered and the existing Mindlin homogenization stress summation method for calculating the settlement of pile group foundation, the deformation behavior ...

Some observations on statnamic pile testing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Limited guidance on usage and methodology is currently available to engineers for the most common rapid load pile test, known as Statnamic. In order to improve the analysis of Statnamic testing in clay soils a full-scale instrumented auger bored pile was

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Group thermal response testing for energy piles

open access: yes, 2015
Thermal response testing is an in situ technique for characterising the thermal conductivity of the ground around a borehole heat exchanger. The test has seen renewed interest in recent years as an increasing number of ground heat exchangers are being ...

Field Test of DX Pile Group

open access: yes, 2011
DX pile is a newly developed variable cross-section pile. Compared to conventional straight pile, it has distinct advantages on bearing capacity and settlement control. However, the bearing mechanism and characteristics of settlement, especially on group

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.
