Pile Cap-Pile Group-Soil Interaction
Journal of the Structural Division, 1981A numerical procedure based on the finite element method is proposed for the analysis of structural systems composed of beam-column (pile), plate (cap) and nonlinear springs (soil). It integrates one-and two-dimensional idealizations for these components in order to obtain an approximation to the three-dimensional problem.

Viscoelastic analysis of piles and pile groups
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1985AbstractThe axial and lateral load–displacement response of single piles and pile groups during the secondary consolidation (creep) phase of deformation is obtained by idealizing the soil as a linear viscoelastic material. The boundary element method is used to model the soil halfspace and the piles, which are assumed to behave elastically, are ...

Numerical Analysis of Pile–Soil–Pile Interaction in Pile Groups with Batter Piles
Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2018Battered piles are usually used to counteract lateral forces in a pile group. As there is little spacing between piles, they are affected by one another, and there is interaction between them. In this study, pile–soil–pile interaction in a group of battered piles was numerically simulated using finite element analysis. Double and frictional pile groups

Pile–soil–pile interaction in pile groups with batter piles under dynamic loads
Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2011Abstract A simple analytical solution is developed for computing the dynamic interaction tensor for floating pile groups with batter piles. For this purpose, the governing differential equations are derived for an unloaded batter floating pile closely spaced to another loaded pile with the same properties.

Abstract The optimisation of pile groups is studied using an optimisation technique in conjunction with a discrete element method for pile group settlement analysis. It is demonstrated that it is possible to optimise the performance of pile groups by minimising the load differentials between piles and/or differential settlements.

Pile‐Cap‐Pile‐Group Interaction in Nonhomogeneous Soil
Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1991A numerical method of analysis is presented to study the behavior of vertically loaded pile groups embedded in a nonhomogencous soil with the pile caps in contact with the ground. The considered soil profiles consist of soil with Young's moduli increasing linearly with depth.

Jet scour around vertical piles and pile groups
Ocean Engineering, 2005Abstract Ship-induced local scours by propeller jets cause considerable damage around harbour structures. This study investigated the local scour around piles and pile groups. In the case of pile clusters, group effects become important, as does the angle of orientation of the pile groups to the prevailing direction of waves and currents.
