Thermal Performance of an Energy Pile Group with a Deeply Penetrating U-Shaped Heat Exchanger

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
This study presents a novel heat exchanger configuration, called a deeply penetrating U-shaped configuration, for energy piles. The outlet water temperature, temperature variation along the tube, and heat transfer rate are simulated and computed using ...

X-ray Measurement of the subpixel structure of the XMM EPIC MOS CCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We report here the results of a mesh experiment to measure the subpixel structure of the EPIC MOS CCDs on board the XMM X-ray observatory. The pixel size is 40$\mu$m square while the mesh hole spacing is 48$\mu$m, a combination quite different from our ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Study of CMS sensitivity to neutrinoless $\tau$ decay at LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), scheduled to start operation in 2006, is foreseen to provide in the first year of running a total of $\sim 10^{12}$ $\tau$ leptons.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Determination of the optimal row distance for double row piles and the calculation method for earth pressure between piles

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
The double-row pile system without a connecting beam is challenging to implement in practical engineering because of its complex load characteristics and the lack of a standardized model for soil pressure between piles.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

3D Numerical Modeling of Large Piled-Raft Foundation on Clayey Soils for Different Loadings and Pile-Raft Configurations

open access: yesStudia Geotechnica et Mechanica, 2020
In a piled-raft foundation, the interaction between structural elements and soil continuum can be simulated very precisely by numerical modeling. In the present study, 3D finite element model has been used to examine the settlement, load-sharing, bending
