Optimization of lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase, and Lac production from Ganoderma lucidum under solid state fermentation of pineapple leaf [PDF]

open access: yesBioResources, 2013
This study was undertaken to isolate ligninase-producing white-rot fungi for use in the extraction of fibre from pineapple leaf agriwaste. Fifteen fungal strains were isolated from dead tree trunks and leaf litter. Ligninolytic enzymes (lignin peroxidase

Norms Over Threats and Trends: A Managerial Perspective on the Role of Normative Pressures in Motivating Sustainable Strategies and Positive Outcomes

open access: yesBusiness Ethics, the Environment &Responsibility, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effectiveness of institutional pressures in motivating two contrasting sustainability strategies, symbolic and substantive, and their subsequent impact on the triple bottom line (TBL). Using data from 388 US supply chain professionals, this research applies institutional theory and structural equation modeling to ...

Regulatory Properties of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase in Crassulacean Acid Metabolism Plants: Diurnal Changes in Phosphorylation State and Regulation of Gene Expression

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2007
Regulatory properties of Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC, EC 4.1.1.31) in three CAM species, Kalanchoë pinnata, K. daigremontiana and Ananas comosus (pineapple) were examined.

Glutamine enhances competence for organogenesis in pineapple leaves cultivated in vitro

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Plant Physiology, 2005
Leaf bases of pineapple cultured on a shoot induction medium (SIM) produced protuberances followed by shoot-buds via direct organogenesis at a frequency of 46 %. When 8 mM glutamine (gln) was a supplement to SIM (SIM8gln), the regeneration rate increased to 70 %, thus suggesting that 8mM gln increased explant competence for organogenesis. Besides this,

Habitat use and diel activity of insectivorous bats across land‐cover types on an Afrotropical oceanic island

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Using acoustic surveys, we investigated habitat use and diel activity patterns of insectivorous bats across the main land‐use types of the endemic‐rich Príncipe Island, in Central West Africa. We sampled bat activity at 48 sites spanning old‐growth forests, secondary regrowth forests, shaded cocoa plantations, and horticultural areas.

Characteristics of Cellulose, Hemicellulose and Lignin of MD2 Pineapple Biomass

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Three main lignocellulosic components (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) are major plant cell walls. Their content in biomass crops, for example, MD2 pineapple waste will affect the heating values (HHV) if uses as a feedstock for the solid biofuel ...

Land Reforms in Cuba: First Empirical Assessment on Productivity Using Crop‐Level Panel Data

open access: yesEconomics of Transition and Institutional Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Land reforms implemented in Cuba since 2008 have aimed to increase agricultural production by distributing state‐owned idle lands with land‐use rights. The reforms restricted farmers with the rights from cultivating perennial and capital‐intensive crops.
