Hybrid Modification Strategies of Metal–Organic Frameworks: A Review on Structural Design and Environmental Applications

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review examines how hybrid modification strategies enhance the structural design and environmental performance of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). It outlines key synthesis routes, functionalization approaches, and integration with complementary materials, highlighting advances in pollutant removal, sensing, and sustainable remediation.

AlkaPlorer: A database‐driven explorer for natural alkaloids and derivatives

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 5, Page 1384-1398, May 2026.
The alkaloid database AlkaPlorer integrates over 130,000 compounds across 12,250 species. By linking chemical structures with biological and evolutionary data, it reveals how these molecules evolve and function. This platform serves as a vital resource for AI‐driven discovery in plant metabolism and modern drug development. ABSTRACT Alkaloids, renowned

In Vivo Measurement of UVA Protection Factor (ISO 24442:2011) Across 38 Different SPF 50 and SPF 50+ Sunscreens Reveals High Heterogeneity and Limitations in the Level of Protection

open access: yesPhotodermatology, Photoimmunology &Photomedicine, Volume 42, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background/Purpose The UVB and UVA components of terrestrial solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) cause acute and chronic damage to skin. These adverse effects can be reduced by sunscreen application. The sun protection factor (SPF) is primarily a measure of UVB protection against erythema and does not quantify protection from UVA, which is the ...

Triple Matrix Confinement‐Induced Ultrabright Afterglow From Carbon Dots With Multivariate Responsive Afterglow Colors for Advanced Dynamic Information Encryption

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 16, 13 April 2026.
A novel carbon dots material (BUL‐CDs) with an initial afterglow brightness (406 cd m−2) far exceeding that of other afterglow luminescent materials was developed. Furthermore, the BUL‐CDs exhibited time‐dependent afterglow colors, excitation‐dependent afterglow colors, and thermochromic afterglow in response to triplet variables.

Pyrene‐Conjugated, 2‐Pyridinecarboxaldehyde Derivatives as N‐Terminus‐Specific Tags for MALDI‐ and LALDI‐MS

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 8, 30 April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Proteolytic processing is a fundamental post‐translational modification. Liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) workflows are powerful for degradomic analyses but inherently sacrifice spatial information, a critical aspect for investigating biological systems such as aberrant extracellular matrix remodeling and ...

Purification and Transcriptomic Characterization of Hypertrophied Hepatic Stellate Cells From CDAHFD Mouse Liver

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 8, 30 April 2026.
The purification protocol for hypertrophied hepatic stellate cells (hypHSCs) developed in this study, using fibrotic and steatotic mouse livers (CDAHFD model), made it possible to obtain a high‐purity hypHSC preparation for transcriptomic analysis.

In Vitro Evaluation of PARP1 Inhibitor Olaparib‐Cyanine Dye Conjugate for the Treatment of Glioblastoma

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Inhibition of DNA damage repair is a common mechanism to induce cancer cell death and, therefore, to treat cancers such as breast, prostate and ovarian cancer. This approach, although very attractive, has not been feasible for treating brain tumours due to the stringent structural features necessary for pharmaceutical agents to cross the blood–brain ...

The Relationship Between Catalyst and Solvent in Hydrogenation via Condensed Phase Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Heterogeneous catalysis has historically been developed in the gas phase, however, we have found it pertinent to highlight solvent effects that must be accounted for in liquid environments. Condensed phase catalysis, like that in biomass, petroleum and the conversion of CO2, stands to benefit from the typically overlooked discussion regarding the ...

A Bifunctional Small Molecule Degrader of the Long Noncoding RNA MALAT1 Triplex

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 15, 22 April 2026.
Targeting disease‐linked RNAs with small molecules is often limited by the modest impact of binding RNA structure alone. Here, we present a first‐in‐class bifunctional molecule that degrades the oncogenic lncRNA MALAT‐1 by inducing proximity between the RNA and a cleaving warhead.

Enzyme‐Assisted Synthesis and In Vitro Characterization of Bifunctional PCSK9 Inhibitors

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is an important therapeutic target for lowering cholesterol. Here, we report the assembly of a bifunctional molecule combining a PCSK9‐binding peptide with an asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) ligand.
