Identification of differentially-expressed genes associated with pistil abortion in Japanese apricot by genome-wide transcriptional analysis. [PDF]
The phenomenon of pistil abortion widely occurs in Japanese apricot, and imperfect flowers with pistil abortion seriously decrease the yield in production.

Toward in vitro fertilization in Brachiaria spp. [PDF]
Brachiaria are forage grasses widely cultivated in tropical areas. In vitro pollination was applied to accessions of Brachiaria spp. by placing pollen of non-dehiscent anthers on a solid medium near isolated ovaries.

PEK14: A Kinesin‐4 Necessary for Male‐Derived Fertility in Arabidopsis thaliana
ABSTRACT Of the 61 kinesins annotated in Arabidopsis thaliana, many are still without assigned function. Here, we have screened an insertional mutant library of Arabidopsis pollen‐expressed kinesins for fertility defects. Insertional mutants for three kinesins showed a significant reduction in seed set.

Pollen limitation, a decrease in seed production due to insufficient pollen receipt, may influence plant demography and the evolution of sexual systems. Its empirical estimation of pollen supplementation of some of the flowers on an individual is well known to be prone to overestimation due to potential resource reallocation among the individual's ...

Protein Profiling Reveals Novel Proteins in Pollen and Pistil of W22 (ga1; Ga1) in Maize
Gametophytic factors mediate pollen-pistil interactions in maize (Zea mays L.) and play active roles in limiting gene flow among maize populations and between maize and teosinte.

Generalist‐pollinated Arabis alpina exhibits floral scent variation at multiple scales
Plants that depend on animals for reproduction often use complex floral traits to attract pollinators. Floral scent is recognized as part of the pollinator attraction module and can be shaped by plant‐pollinator interactions. In recent decades, research has started to reveal the dynamic properties of floral scent, identifying patterns of spatial and ...

Review of the molecular background of self-incompatibility in rosaceous fruit trees
This review gives a presentation of the gametophytic self-incompatibility system in the roscaeous fruit trees. Studies to discover the pistil (S-ribonucleases) and pollen-part components (F-box molecules) are summarized and models for the self ...
