Sensitization-dependent nicotine place preference in the adult zebrafish

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 2019
Sensitization of motor activity is a behavioural test to evaluate the effects of psychostimulants. Conditioned place preference (CPP) is an associative learning procedure to examine the rewarding properties of drugs. We aimed to assess whether motor sensitization to drugs of abuse can make zebrafish more vulnerable to establishing drug-induced CPP.

The place of detoxification in treatment of opioid dependence

Current Opinion in Psychiatry, 2006
This review summarizes current research on the management of opioid withdrawal and considers the selection of the approach in different situations. The recent publication of three controlled trials makes firm conclusions about the relative effectiveness of newer approaches (antagonist-induced withdrawal under anaesthesia or with minimal sedation ...

Evidence for state-dependent retrieval in conditioned place aversion

Behavioral and Neural Biology, 1993
State-dependent retrieval (SDR) in conditioned place aversion (CPA) was observed using Long-Evans male rats, with three different aversive drugs injected ip: lithium chloride (31.8 mg/kg), FG 7142 (10 mg/kg), and naloxone (5 mg/kg). Experiment 1 showed that state-dependent dissociation was complete with lithium chloride following two conditioning ...

Basque affricates and the manner-place dependency

Lingua, 1992
Abstract In this paper an attempt is made to refine the representation of Basque affricates, taking into account recent research that has shown that the Manner features in these segments are best analysed as two independent unary features [stop] and [cont] (Hualde 1988, Lombardi 1990). All processes bearing on the structure of affricates discussed in

Fast in-place verification of data dependencies

IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 1993
Several fast and space-optimal sequential and parallel algorithms for solving the satisfaction problem of functional and multivalued dependencies (FDs and MVDs) are presented. Two frameworks to verify an MVD for a relation and their implementation by exploring the existing fast space-optimal sorting techniques are described.

Mood as a mediator of place dependent memory.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 1995
Converging evidence form 3 studies suggests that how well information transfers from one environment to another depends on how similar the environments feel rather than on how similar they look. Thus, even when target events are encoded and retrieved in the same physical setting, memory performance suffers if the attending affective states differ ...

Academic Solidarity and Placefulness: How Does Universitas Depend on Place?*

Philosophy and Theory in Higher Education
Abstract In this paper, I explore the foundational role of place in shaping academic solidarity, drawing from insights in educational research and phenomenology, particularly focusing on the concepts of Universitas and placefulness. I argue that academic solidarity is intricately tied to the experience of place, making it vulnerable to contemporary ...

Arabinogalactan-Proteins, Place-Dependent Suppression and Plant Morphogenesis

2000
Experiments in which several antagonists of the synthesis of Hyp-containing proteins (Hyp-proteins) induced profound changes in the morphogenetic patterns exhibited by five different species of leafy liverworts led to a hypothesis that some of the Hyp-proteins had a morphoregulatory function (Basile 1980, Basile and Basile 1982). The class to which the

History Matters: The Path Dependency of Place Brands

2011
Since the start of the new millennium we have seen a growing number of cities announcing a branding strategy. Branding is not just being adopted by the ‘usual suspects’ such as the global cities, the capitals and well-known tourist destinations, but also by smaller, specialized cities and so-called second cities.1 The latter are a very interesting ...
