A vertically integrated system for tracking and assessing cell-cycle-aware phenotypes under confinement [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Bioengineering
Quantitative cell biology often examines migration and cell-cycle (CC) progression separately, limiting insights into their interplay under spatial constraints. Here, we present a vertically integrated platform combining multiplexed fluorescent reporters

Cycle flows and multistabilty in oscillatory networks: an overview

open access: yes, 2016
The functions of many networked systems in physics, biology or engineering rely on a coordinated or synchronized dynamics of its constituents. In power grids for example, all generators must synchronize and run at the same frequency and their phases need

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Cone complementarity approach for dynamic analysis of multiple pendulums

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The multibody system dynamics approach allows describing equations of motion for a dynamic system in a straightforward manner. This approach can be applied to a wide variety of applications that consist of interconnected components which may be rigid or ...

A New Fuzzy-Evidential Controller for Stabilization of the Planar Inverted Pendulum System

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
In order to realize the stability control of the planar inverted pendulum system, which is a typical multi-variable and strong coupling system, a new fuzzy-evidential controller based on fuzzy inference and evidential reasoning is proposed.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Dense Piecewise Planar RGB-D SLAM for Indoor Environments

open access: yes, 2017
The paper exploits weak Manhattan constraints to parse the structure of indoor environments from RGB-D video sequences in an online setting. We extend the previous approach for single view parsing of indoor scenes to video sequences and formulate the ...

Balanced, bi-planar magnetic field and field gradient coils for field compensation in wearable magnetoencephalography

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
To allow wearable magnetoencephalography (MEG) recordings to be made on unconstrained subjects the spatially inhomogeneous remnant magnetic field inside the magnetically shielded room (MSR) must be nulled.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
