Computer-aided design and analysis of mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
An introduction to the computer programs developed to assist in the design and analysis of mechanisms is presented. A survey of the various types of programs which are available is given, and the most widely used programs are compared.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Robust Autonomous Perception for Indoor Service Machines via Geometry-Aware RGB-D SLAM and Probabilistic Dynamic Modeling

open access: yesMachines
Reliable autonomous perception is essential for indoor service machines operating in human-centered environments, where weak textures, repetitive structures, and frequent dynamic interference often degrade localization stability.

Dynamic Analysis of Planar 3-RRR Flexible Parallel Robots with Dynamic Stiffening

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2014
In consideration of the second-order coupling quantity of the axial displacement caused by the transverse displacement of flexible beam, the first-order approximation coupling model of planar 3-RRR flexible parallel robots is presented, in which the ...

Nonlinear Attitude Control of Planar Structures in Space Using Only Internal Controls [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
An attitude control strategy for maneuvers of an interconnection of planar bodies in space is developed. It is assumed that there are no exogeneous torques and that torques generated by joint motors are used as means of control so that the total angular ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

A New Approach of Dynamic Complexity Analysis for a Planar Manipulator With Clearance and Lubrication in Joint

open access: yesComplexity
The existence of clearance in the joint causes positional deviation and reduces the accuracy of robotics, in which nonlinear factors such as friction and lubrication inside the joint seriously affect its dynamic behaviors.

Molecular dynamics studies of anomalous transport in rarefied gas flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the thermodynamically non-equilibrium gas dynamics by measuring molecular free path distribution functions, inter-molecular collision rates and wall dependent mean free path (MFP) profiles using the molecular dynamics (MD) method.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.
