A Comparative Study of Joint Clearance Effects on Dynamic Behavior of Planar Multibody Mechanical Systems

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
Clearance always exists in actual joint due to many uncertainties such as machining tolerance, assemblage and load deformation. The main purpose of this paper is to propose a computational and experimental study on the dynamic characteristics of a planar

Tracking control of an underactuated rigid body with a coupling input force

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2014
This paper presents a set of basic problems concerning the control of an underactuated dynamic system. Exemplary system of a planar rigid body with a coupling input force is described. Lie brackets method is used to show accessibility of the system.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Orbital dynamics in the planar Saturn-Titan system [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2015
We use the planar circular restricted three-body problem in order to numerically investigate the orbital dynamics of orbits of a spacecraft, or a comet, or an asteroid in the Saturn-Titan system in a scattering region around the Titan. The orbits can escape through the necks around the Lagrangian points $L_1$ and $L_2$ or collide with the surface of ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
