The ORCA‐TWIN qCMOS Experiment I. Science Case and Commissioning at Calar Alto Observatory
ABSTRACT We describe a pilot study to explore a new generation of fast and low noise CMOS image sensors for time domain astronomy, using two remote telescopes with a baseline of 1635 km. The experiment involves direct imaging with novel qCMOS image sensor technology that combines fast readout with sub‐electron readout noise.

In this thesis I focus on two topics: planet-disk interaction and solar convection. These two seemingly separate topics are connected via a similar separation of timescales. Planets excite spiral waves in their disks on fast timescales compared to the time for the disk to viscously adjust to the angular momentum deposited by those waves.

Biomass‐Coupled HER System: A Strategy for Sustainable and Low‐Cost Hydrogen Production
Pine wood is carbonized into a hierarchically porous biochar anode that undergoes carbon oxidation reaction, replacing the oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline water electrolysis. Kirkendall‐engineered hollow Ni–Mn hexacyanoferrates feature Ni‐tunable shell thickness and uniform alloying, coupling architectural control with electronic stabilization. Composition–morphology co‐optimization suppresses Mn³⁺‐driven Jahn–Teller distortions and lowers charge‐transfer barriers, enabling rapid Zn²⁺ transport and reversible redox.
