A scoping review of approaches used to develop plant-based diet quality indices
Plant-based dietary patterns are comprised of a range of foods, and increasingly, diet quality indices are used to assess them and their associations with health outcomes. As the design of these indices varies, a review of existing indices is necessary to identify common features, strengths, and considerations.

Comparison of Plant-Based Diet Indices Scoring and Risk with Hypertension (OR33-06-19) [PDF]
Recently, several distinct diet indices have been developed to characterize adherence to plant-based diets. We deconstructed and compared 6 plant-based diet indices (PDI) in a community-based cohort with respect to their scoring and their associations with incident hypertension. Using food frequency questionnaire data from middle-aged adults (n = 8041)

The Association between Plant-Based Diet Indices and Metabolic Syndrome in Chinese Adults: Longitudinal Analyses from the China Health and Nutrition Survey [PDF]
Objectives: To investigate the association between a plant-based diet and metabolic syndrome (MetS) among Chinese adults. Methods: Based on the data from the 2004–2015 China Health and Nutrition Survey and the corresponding edition of China Food Composition, we calculated the healthy plant-based diet indices (hPDI) and unhealthy plant-based diet ...

DASH, Mediterranean, and Plant-Based Diets and Cancer Risk in Women: A Narrative Review Based on Diet Quality Indices. [PDF]
Cancer remains a major public health challenge among women worldwide, and diet quality may play an important role in cancer prevention. This narrative review synthesized evidence on the association between standardized diet quality indices—the DASH Score, Mediterranean Diet Score, and plant-based diet indices—and the risk of selected cancers in women ...

The association between plant-based diet indices and the risk of breast cancer: a case-control study [PDF]
Background Previous studies examining the relationship between plant-based diets and breast cancer (BrC) have provided conflicting evidence. To address these inconsistencies, we aimed to evaluate the association between the plant-based diet index (PDI ...

Indices of healthy and unhealthy plant-based diets and the risk of selected digestive cancers [PDF]
The relation between various types of plant-based diets and cancer risk is still unclear. We examined the association of the overall plant-based diet index (PDI) and healthy (hPDI) and unhealthy plant-based diet indices (uPDI) with the risk of selected digestive cancers. We used data from a network of hospital-based case-control studies including 942 ...

Trajectories of plant-based diet indices and the associated risk of hypertension among Chinese adults: a cohort study based on the China Health and Nutrition Survey 2004–2015 [PDF]
Background Plant-based diets have been found to be associated with hypertension. Dietary intake is a dynamic and changing process that can be better characterized by trajectories of dietary indices.

Associations between metabolic syndrome and Plant-Based diet Indices in the NutriNet-Santé study [PDF]
Abstract Background Prior studies have shown that plant-based diets are associated with lower risk of cardiovascular diseases but the risk seems to differ according to the nutritional quality of plant food intakes.
