Image-based Plant Disease Diagnosis with Unsupervised Anomaly Detection Based on Reconstructability of Colors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper proposes an unsupervised anomaly detection technique for image-based plant disease diagnosis. The construction of large and publicly available datasets containing labeled images of healthy and diseased crop plants led to growing interest in computer vision techniques for automatic plant disease diagnosis.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Plant Diseases recognition on images using Convolutional Neural Networks: A Systematic Review [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Plant diseases are considered one of the main factors influencing food production and minimize losses in production, and it is essential that crop diseases have fast detection and recognition. The recent expansion of deep learning methods has found its application in plant disease detection, offering a robust tool with highly accurate results.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

The role of regulatory mechanisms for control of plant diseases and food security — case studies from potato production in Britain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Being aware of the potentially devastating impacts of plant diseases on food security, governments have designed and employ plant health legislation to prevent or inhibit the worst impacts.

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...
