Plant Fidelity in Somatic Embryogenesis-Regenerated Plants

2016
This chapter reviews the literature on somaclonal variation affecting the micropropagation through somatic embryogenesis. The first part covers the following aspects i) principle, protocols and applications of somatic embryogenesis and ii) epigenetic reprogramming and changes in cell fate that underlie somatic embryogenesis.

Regeneration of plants

1986
The idea that cells could contain all the information necessary for the regeneration of a whole organism is implied in the cell theory proposed by Schwann [1]. At that time, however, the technology did not exist to study regeneration of plants from any single cell other than a newly fertilized zygote, and even this development process takes place ...

Regeneration in Plants

The Biblical World, 1914
Theology, in the nature of the case, must use analogies to express the relation between man and God. In the past religious analogies have been those of politics, of paternity, or of law. The rise of the biological sciences has affected all types of thinking and has given a new group of analogies as well as technical terms to other sciences than this ...

Protoplasts: Isolation, culture, plant regeneration

1986
Publisher Summary This chapter presents an idealized example of protoplast isolation with the steps involved in protoplast isolation and culture; discusses the parameters involved in the developmental sequence from protoplast to plant; and overviews a collection of detailed laboratory protocols for protoplast isolation, clonal proliferation, and ...

Plant regeneration fromArabidopsis thaliana protoplasts

Plant Cell Reports, 1990
Arabidopsis thaliana protoplasts, isolated from a cell suspension, regenerated cell walls and then exhibited sustained cell divisions. Within 10 days after isolation as many as 40% of the protoplast-derived cells divided. Protoplast-derived calli exhibited a wide range of developmental responses, including apparent embryogenesis.

Dynamic Epigenetic Changes during Plant Regeneration

Trends in Plant Science, 2018
Plants have the remarkable ability to drive cellular dedifferentiation and regeneration. Changes in epigenetic landscapes accompany the cell fate transition. Notably, modifications of chromatin structure occur primarily during callus formation via an in vitro tissue culture process and, thus, pluripotent callus cells have unique epigenetic signatures ...

Plant Traits and Regeneration

2017
Plant functional traits represent the morphological, physiological or phenological features which exhibit strategies that determine the response of plants to environmental conditions and affect ecosystem services. These traits could be expressed at different levels, e.g.

Plant Regeneration: Morphogenesis

1994
The ability to regenerate whole plants from selected or genetically altered cells or tissues is the key to the broad biotechnological potential of plant cell cultures. This is not a fundamentally novel process, it has long been used commercially to propagate and produce certain cultures, e.g.
