Integrated microbiome and metabolome approaches reveal the resistant mechanisms of leaf blight resistant plum cultivar

open access: yesChemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture
Background Endophytic microbiome and metabolome are closely related to the plant resistance. Unravelling the compositional features of the endophytic microbiome and metabolome can help to understand plant resistant mechanisms. This study investigates the

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Amaranth Plants with Various Color Phenotypes Recruit Different Soil Microorganisms in the Rhizosphere

open access: yesPlants
To explore and utilize the abundant soil microorganisms and their beneficial functions, high-throughput sequencing technology was used to analyze soil microbial compositions in the rhizosphere of red and green amaranth varieties.

Planted tree fallows and their influence on soil fertility and maize production in East Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Soil fertility depletion is a main constraint to food production in sub-Saharan Africa. This thesis concerns the potential of N2-fixing trees to increase nitrogen inputs to agroforestry systems and accordingly to improve crop production.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Effects of compost and digestate on environment and plant production – results of two research projects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A yearly amount of 9.3x106t compost and digestate derived from separately collected organic waste is produced in the 25 European Union member states. The improvement of soil properties is a major benefit of compost application.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Environmental impacts of a lunch plate - challenges in interpreting the LCA results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The challenges of the project were to reveal and interpret complex and contrasting environmental issues associated with food by consumers, in order to build up more comprehensive understanding on LCA results as measures of sustainability.
