Research development on gut microbiota and vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque

open access: yesHeliyon
The relationship between gut microbiota and its metabolites with cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been proven. In this review, we aim to conclude the potential mechanism of gut microbiota and its metabolites on inducing the formation of vulnerable ...

Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

Sindbis virus ts103 has a mutation in glycoprotein E2 that leads to defective assembly of virions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Sindbis virus mutant ts103 is aberrant in the assembly of virus particles. During virus budding, proper nucleocapsid-glycoprotein interactions fail to occur such that particles containing many nucleocapsids are formed, and the final yield of virus is low.

Transplantation of GABAergic Interneuron Progenitors Restores Cortical Circuit Function in an Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transplantation of medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) interneuron progenitors into APP/PS1 cortices restored the slow oscillation characteristic of Alzheimer's disease. Donor cells survived, migrated, and matured into functional GABAergic interneurons, forming synaptic connections.

Parabiosis, Assembloids, Organoids (PAO)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review evaluates parabiosis, organoids, and assembloids as complementary disease models spanning systemic, organ, and multi‐organ levels. It highlights their construction strategies, applications, and current limitations, while emphasizing their integration with frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, organ‐on‐a‐chip, CRISPR, and ...

Characterization of the proteome of stable and unstable carotid atherosclerotic plaques using data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Currently, noninvasive imaging techniques and circulating biomarkers are still insufficient to accurately assess carotid plaque stability, and an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms that contribute to plaque instability is still

A Lung‐Immune Dual‐Humanized Mouse Using Cryopreserved Tissue Enables Infection and Immune Profiling of Human Common Cold Coronaviruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cryopreserved lung‐humanized mice overcome the dependency to fresh tissues and permit head‐to‐head profiling of all four human common cold coronaviruses versus SARS‐CoV‐2 infection; the model validates Paxlovid efficacy against HKU1 and, when coupled with human immune‐system engraftment, enables interrogation of lung‐resident human immunity and HKU1 ...

hUC-MSCs mitigate atherosclerosis induced by a high-fat diet in ApoE−/− mice by regulating the intestinal microbiota

open access: yesHeliyon
Background: The mechanism underlying human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) regulating the stability of atherosclerotic plaque was explored by establishing mice models of atherosclerosis induced by a high-fat diet and hUC-MSCs ...
