Comparisons of plasma aldosterone and renin data between an automated chemiluminescent immunoanalyzer and conventional radioimmunoassays in the screening and diagnosis of primary aldosteronism.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Determining values of plasma renin activity (PRA) or plasma active renin concentration (ARC), plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC), and aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) is essential to diagnose primary aldosteronism (PA), but it takes several days with

Downregulated serum 14, 15-epoxyeicosatrienoic acid is associated with abdominal aortic calcification in patients with primary aldosteronism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) have increased risk of target-organ damage, among which vascular calcification is an important indicator of cardiovascular mortality.

Novel chemiluminescent immunoassay to measure plasma aldosterone and plasma active renin concentrations for the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Human Hypertension, 2021
AbstractDetermination of plasma aldosterone concentrations (PAC) and plasma active renin concentrations (ARC) is essential for the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA). In Japan, although PAC and ARC are measured by radioimmunoassay and immunoradiometric assay, respectively, non-radioisotopic methods with better detection sensitivity, measurement ...

Hypertension with unilateral adrenal aldosterone and cortisol cosecreting adenoma: A case report

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, 2021
Here, we report a case of unilateral adrenal aldosterone and cortisol co‐secreting adenoma. A 34‐year‐old man with a history of severe hypertension for one year was detected hypokalemia (2.42 mmol/L lowest) and unilateral adrenal mass in a size of 71 mm ...

Plasma Aldosterone Concentration in Patients with Primary Aldosteronism during the Last Decade

open access: yesFolia Endocrinologica Japonica, 1985
We analyzed the chronological variation of plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) in 27 surgically confirmed patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) during the period from 1975 to 1984. PAC values in PA-patients were significantly higher than those in 82 age-matched patients with essential hypertension (EHT).

Adrenal (Pro)renin Receptor Expression and Serum Soluble (Pro)renin Receptor Concentration in Primary Aldosteronism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2020
The (pro)renin receptor [(P)RR] is a multifunctioning protein playing roles in various pathological conditions. A soluble form of (P)RR [s(P)RR] has been considered a biomarker for (P)RR expression in tissues.

Evaluation of oral telmisartan administration as a suppression test for diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism in cats

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2023
Background Development of a telmisartan‐based suppression test may facilitate the diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism (PHA) in cats, which remains difficult today.

Plasma renin activity and aldosterone concentration in children. [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1975
Using semi-micro methods, plasma renin activity (PRA) and plasma aldosterone concentration (PA) were measured concurrently in 79 healthy children aged 1 month to 15 years to establish a reference range. PRA and PA varied inversely with age. Eleven children with renal hypertension had higher PRA and PA than age-matched controls.

The associations of adipokines with selected markers of the renin-angiotensinogen-aldosterone system: the multi-ethnic study of atherosclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Among obese individuals, increased sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity results in increased renin and aldosterone production, as well as renal tubular sodium reabsorption.

Plasma renin activity and aldosterone concentration in children [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1974
Plasma renin activity (PRA) was measured by radio-immunoassay of Angiotensin I(AI) production; plasma aldosterone concentration (PAldo) was also measured by radio-immunoassay. It was found that in healthy children on free diets diets over the age of 1 year, the upper limit of PRA was about 500 pg AI/ml/hr, but in infants much higher levels were ...
