Occurrence of Giant Plasma Bubble in Liquid

Matter, 2023
Fluid interfaces are generally known to deform or fragment in accordance with the Rayleigh limit theory under the influence of charged particles. Here, we present experimental evidence of a cross-scale transition from microscopic to macroscopic bubbles in a charged liquid-gas fluid system under a strong electric field.

Plasma bubble domains: A magnetic bubble analog

Applied Physics Letters, 1982
Results are presented on the discovery of plasma bubble domains (PBD’s), which occur as regular patterns of localized glow discharges formed under ac excitation in an atmospheric pressure inert gas based mixture confined between large-area, closely spaced, plane-parallel, dielectric-covered electrodes.

Bursting Bubbles in a Complex Plasma

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2011
Time-space plots called “periodgrams” are used to study a complex plasma under the influence of a temperature gradient. The plasma contained microparticles that were illuminated with a laser. The complex plasma spontaneously formed bubbles that induced the movement of particles upward through the discharge chamber.
