Reactive species involved in higher seeds germination and shoots vigor through direct plasma exposure and plasma-activated liquids [PDF]
Cold atmospheric plasma treatments have been applied on lenses seeds and shoots to improve their germination and vigor rates. Two approaches have been considered: direct plasma exposure and plasma activation of liquids (tap water, demineralized water and liquid fertilizer).

Effect of stellar wind on the efficiency of plasma radio emission from exoplanet HD189733b [PDF]
On the example of the exoplanet HD 189733 an influence of stellar activity on the efficiency of the plasma mechanism of radio emission generation of the exoplanet and the properties of this emission are considered. The plasma generation mechanism can be effectively implemented in the plasmasphere of exoplanets with a weak magnetic field and a ...

Abstract Aims Patients hospitalized with acute heart failure (AHF) treated with a 7 day prednisone course in the CORTAHF pilot trial had a greater improvement in health‐related quality of life (QoL) at Day 7 in both the overall population and in patients with baseline interleukin 6 > 13 pg/mL.

Background: Plasma renin can predict future cardiovascular events as well as the prevalence of chronic renal disease in hypertensive subjects. Ovine angiotensinogen (oANG) is a better substrate for measuring renin concentration through activity assay ...

Bi-directional actions of estrogen on the renin-angiotensin system
Estrogen stimulates the renin-angiotensin system by augmenting both tissue and circulating levels of angiotensinogen and renin. We show, however, that angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity in the circulation and in tissues is reduced in two animal

Cardioprotective effects of semaglutide on isolated human ventricular myocardium
Semaglutide reduces late sodium current (INa) and diastolic calcium (Ca) sparks in human cardiomyocytes from aortic stenosis (AS) and end‐stage heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) patients, thereby increasing Ca transients. Improved Ca storage may underly the enhanced contractility of human cardiomyocytes upon semaglutide.

Single‐dose pharmacokinetics of telmisartan oral solution and effect of feeding in dogs
Abstract Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker that has great potential to improve the treatment of hypertension, proteinuria, and cardiovascular disease in dogs. A feline‐approved telmisartan oral solution (TOS) is available, but this formulation has not been evaluated in dogs.

Effect of Dehydration on Plasma Renin Activity
To elucidate the effect of plasma volume on renin secretion, plasma renin activity was measured in 10 normal and hypertensive subjects during water test of VOLHARD. Water deprivation resulted in a significant increase in plasma renin activity, plasma sodium concentration and hematocrit in them except 2 patients with primary aldosteronism. Estimation of

Finerenone and glycaemic status in patients with heart failure with mildly reduced/preserved ejection fraction. CI, confidence interval; CV, cardiovascular; HF, heart failure; HR, hazard ratio; RR, rate ratio. Abstract Aims The efficacy and safety of the non‐steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, finerenone, have not been examined in patients

Pathophysiology of cellulite: Possible involvement of selective endotoxemia
Summary The most relevant hallmarks of cellulite include a massive protrusion of superficial adipose tissue into the dermis, reduced expression of the extracellular glycoprotein fibulin‐3, and an unusually high presence of MUSE cells in gluteofemoral white adipose tissue (gfWAT) that displays cellulite.
