Low-frequency surface waves in a structured magnetized dusty plasma

open access: yes, 1999
It is shown that charged dust particles carrying a considerable proportion of the negative charge of a structured magnetized plasma can lead to low-frequency electromagnetic surface waves which otherwise do not exist.

Mechanically Spatio‐Chimeric Fibrin Assembly Enables Vascular‐Integrated Muscle Reconstruction for Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...

The propagation and damping of slow magnetoacoustic waves in the solar atmosphere

open access: yes, 2012
The propagation and damping of slow magnetoacoustic waves in the solar atmosphere is investigated, with particular emphasis placed on waves with periodicities of five minutes. The basic model of a uniform temperature loop is extended by the addition of

Far plasma wake of Titan from the RPWS observations: A case study

open access: yes, 2007
The Titan's plasma wake has been investigated using observations from the Radio and Plasma Wave Science (RPWS) instrument onboard the Cassini spacecraft during one Titan flyby on December 26, 2005.

Unveiling Exsolution‐Induced Giant Electronic and Magnetic Property Changes in Non‐Stoichiometric Titanate Perovskite Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A giant insulator to metal transition and emergent superparamagnetism are revealed by nanoparticle exsolution in non‐stoichiometric titanate perovskite thin films. By combining transport, synchrotron spectroscopy, and first‐principles calculations, this work reveals how defect reconfiguration and lattice reconstruction fundamentally reshape electronic ...

Laminar shocks in high power laser plasma interactions

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a theory to describe laminar ion sound structures in a collisionless plasma. Reflection of a small fraction of the upstream ions converts the well known ion acoustic soliton into a structure with a steep potential gradient upstream and with ...

Laplace‐Pressure‐Stabilized Rutile Solid‐Solution Catalysts for Acidic Water Oxidation: Enabling DSA‐Inspired Compositions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The miscibility of foreign elements in rutile‐type IrO2 and SnO2 is greatly enhanced under high Laplace pressure, where their crystal size is reduced to the nanoscale. This enhancement leads to the successful synthesis of DSA‐composition solid‐solution nanocatalysts with notable durability during the acidic OER in water electrolysis.

A direct numerical simulation of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators for turbulent skin-friction control [PDF]

open access: yes
Turbulent skin-friction control is the subject of much research and the use of transverse (spanwise) oscillating motions offers the means of obtaining a significant reduction in skin-friction.
