Update on plasminogen activator inhibitor-1.
The Canadian journal of cardiology, 1998Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is produced by the endothelium and determines the rate and extent of fibrinolysis. Recent data on PAI-1 gene polymorphism and the potential role of glucose in regulating PAI-1 expression in vascular disease are reviewed.
