Plastic Pollution and Small Juvenile Marine Turtles: A Potential Evolutionary Trap

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
The ingestion of plastic by marine turtles is now reported for all species. Small juvenile turtles (including post-hatchling and oceanic juveniles) are thought to be most at risk, due to feeding preferences and overlap with areas of high plastic ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Canaux anciens et puits récents : usages de l’eau d’irrigation, identité et territoire dans le Haouz (Maroc)

open access: yesDéveloppement Durable et Territoires, 2019
By associating an ethnography of contemporary practices and a diachronic approach, this article tries to show the co-construction over time of an irrigated soil and of a social group, in a locality in Marrakesh’s plain (Haouz).
