Dynamic stability of a floating plate and a support structure (Influence of elasticity of a support structure on occurrence conditions of the self-excited vibration)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
This paper presents experiments and an analysis of the self-excited vibration of a floating plate and a support structure. The system in which a floating plate and a support structure vibrate, the elasticity of the support structure influences the ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Plate mouse [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma, 2013
Fracture shaft humerus when surgically fixed is known to go into non-union and one of the main reasons of this is implant failure. The causes of implant failure may lie in the fracture personality, faulty implant material or choice, dubious surgical technique & faulty mechanics of fixation.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

On stress resultant plasticity and viscoplasticity for metal plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this work we derive elastoplastic and elastoviscoplastic finite element formulations for stress resultant bending analysis of thin metal plates. The principle of maximum plastic dissipation is used to obtain the ingredients of the small strain stress ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Aeroelastic instability stoppers for wind tunnel models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A mechanism for diverting the flow in a wind tunnel from the wing of a tested model is described. The wing is mounted on the wall of a tunnel. A diverter plate is pivotally mounted on the tunnel wall ahead of the model. An actuator fixed to the tunnel is
