KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

A biomechanical study of headless compression screws versus a locking plate in radial head fracture fixation

open access: yes, 2019
Hypothesis: Fixation of a 3-part radial head fracture with cannulated compression screws will show equivalent stiffness to a locking plate under axial load. Debate exists regarding the management of Mason type III fractures, with many believing that open

Clinical comparison of single posterolateral plate with medial-cannulated-screw fixation and double-plate fixation for extra-articular distal humerus fractures

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology
Background Double-plate fixation is the gold standard for extra-articular distal humerus fractures, but it carries a substantial risk of postoperative ulnar neuropathy.

Finite Element Analysis of a New Pedicle Screw-Plate System for Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
PurposeMinimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF) is increasingly popular for the surgical treatment of degenerative lumbar disc diseases. The constructs intended for segmental stability are varied in MI-TLIF.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Spinal Neuronavigation for Lumbar Plate Fixation in Miniature Breed Dogs. [PDF]

open access: yes
OBJECTIVE  The main aim of this pilot study was to assess the feasibility of spinal neuronavigation for plate fixation of lumbar vertebrae in miniature breed dogs using a surgical navigation system in combination with a custom-made reference array.

Single versus Double Plate Fixation in Condylar Neck Fractures: Clinical Results and Biomechanics Simulation

open access: yesBioengineering
The open reduction of mandibular condyle neck fractures is difficult due to the limited surgical field and complex facial nerve structures. The most effective fixation method for narrow fractured segments is debated as standard double four-hole plate ...

Comparison of the fixation ability between lag screw and bone plate for oblique metacarpal shaft fracture

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2022
Background For oblique metacarpal shaft fracture, if anatomical reduction is achieved through conservative cast immobilization rather than stable fixation, bone malrotation can easily occur, resulting in severe loss in hand prehensile function.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Experimental and Finite Element Studies of Acetabular Cement Pressurisation and Socket Fixation in Total Hip Replacement [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
PhDWith time, the rate of symptomatic acetabular component loosening accelerates and overtakes that of the femoral component as the principal reason for the revision of total hip replacement.
