Platelet-Derived Growth Factor in Heart Failure

2016
Defective vascular and cardiomyocyte function are implicated in the development and progression of both heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction. Any treatment option that augments these myocardial processes may therefore be of significant value.

Mechanism of action of platelet-derived growth factor

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 1996
More than 20 years ago, platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) was identified and later purified. Through recent years of intense research, a large body of information has been collected on how PDGF transduces its biological effects to responding cells.

Biology of platelet‐derived growth factors in development

Birth Defects Research Part C: Embryo Today: Reviews, 2003
AbstractPlatelet‐derived growth factor (PDGF) was one of the first growth factors to be characterized, and the PDGF family of ligand and receptors has remained an archetype system for studies of the mechanisms of action of growth factors and receptor tyrosine kinases for more than two decades.

The molecular biology of platelet-derived growth factor

Cell, 1983
PDGF is a connective tissue mitogen that has been associated with clotted blood serum for at least 300 million years. It regulates the expression of cell cycle "early genes" in normal fibroblasts. Induction of early genes is preceded by stimulation of a tyrosine-specific kinase.

The Molecular Action of Platelet-Derived Growth Factor

1985
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the biology of Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) with an emphasis on understanding the relationship between growth factors and cell transformation. It also discusses the regulation of gene expression by PDGF. PDGF has been shown to stimulate the growth of fibroblasts in culture from chickens through humans.
