Some New Results on the Maximum Growth Factor in Gaussian Elimination [PDF]
This paper combines modern numerical computation with theoretical results to improve our understanding of the growth factor problem for Gaussian elimination. On the computational side we obtain lower bounds for the maximum growth for complete pivoting for $n=1:75$ and $n=100$ using the Julia JuMP optimization package.

The growth factor of matter perturbations in an f(R) gravity [PDF]
The growth of matter perturbations in the $f(R)$ model proposed by Starobinsky is studied in this paper. Three different parametric forms of the growth index are considered respectively and constraints on the model are obtained at both the $1\sigma$ and $2\sigma$ confidence levels, by using the current observational data for the growth factor.

AFC1 Compound Attenuated MI/R-Induced Ventricular Remodeling via Inhibiting PDGFR and STAT Pathway
Background: Effective interventions to improve the outcome of patients subjected to myocardial ischemia reperfusion (MI/R) are urgent in clinical settings. Tanshinone IIA (TSA) is reported to attenuate myocardial injury and improve ventricular remodeling

Growth induced instabilities in a circular hyperelastic plate [PDF]
In this work, we have explored growth-induced mechanical instability in an isotropic circular hyperelastic plate. Consistent two-dimensional governing equations for a plate under a general finite strain are derived using a variational approach. The derived plate equations are solved using the compound matrix method for two cases of axisymmetric growth ...

Nonlinear Evolution of Very Small Scale Cosmological Baryon Perturbations at Recombination [PDF]
The evolution of baryon density perturbations on very small scales is investigated. In particular, the nonlinear growth induced by the radiation drag force from the shear velocity field on larger scales during the recombination epoch, which is originally proposed by Shaviv in 1998, is studied in detail.

Influence of the growth gradient on surface wrinkling and pattern transition in growing tubular tissues [PDF]
Growth-induced pattern formations in curved film-substrate structures have attracted extensive attentions recently. In most existing literature, the growth tensor is assumed to be homogeneous or piecewise homogeneous. In this paper, we aim at clarifying the influence of a growth gradient on pattern formation and pattern evolution in bilayered tubular ...

A New Upper Bound For the Growth Factor in Gaussian Elimination with Complete Pivoting [PDF]
The growth factor in Gaussian elimination measures how large the entries of an LU factorization can be relative to the entries of the original matrix. It is a key parameter in error estimates, and one of the most fundamental topics in numerical analysis. We produce an upper bound of $n^{0.2079 \ln n +0.91}$ for the growth factor in Gaussian elimination
