PLATELET COUNT ON DENGUE

Bioprinted Micro‐Clots for Kinetic Analysis of Endothelial Cell‐Mediated Fibrinolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
This paper describes the development of a microscale model that quantifies the breakdown of fibrin by endothelial cells. The small size scale of this engineered system enables fibrin breakdown to be observed without the addition of external activators. This system could help in identifying compounds which both promote and hinder thrombosis.

An Animal‐Free Patient‐Derived Tissue‐Mimetic Biochip Model of the Human Synovial Membrane for Human‐Relevant Osteoarthritis Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Reihs et al. present the development of a humanized, animal‐free synovial membrane model for osteoarthritis. Methods include 3D biochip cultures of human‐primary OA synoviocytes with matrix and serum surrogates. Results show replication of synovial architecture and increased Yap1 expression.

High‐Throughput Encapsulation of Stem Cells: Characterizing Dynamic Culture Variability With a Millifluidic Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A high throughput millifluidic encapsulation platform is engineered and standardized. The system's output allows the monitoring of cell expansion in strong dynamic conditions. High polymer crosslinking leads to higher cell proliferation and lower cell growth on microgel's surface.

A meta-analysis and genome-wide association study of platelet count and mean platelet volume in african americans.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2012
Several genetic variants associated with platelet count and mean platelet volume (MPV) were recently reported in people of European ancestry. In this meta-analysis of 7 genome-wide association studies (GWAS) enrolling African Americans, our aim was to ...

RBC Membrane‐Camouflaged Nanosystem‐Mediated Synergistic Drug Combination for Enhanced Anti‐Tumor Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An RBC membrane camouflaged, cell‐penetrating peptides R8‐based drug delivery system is constructed to achieve a synergistic combination of natural compounds triptolide (TP) and celastrol (Cel), inducing tumor cell apoptosis, reducing tumor metastasis invasion and triggering autophagy disorder in breast cancer and liver cancer.

Combination of Polydopamine and Plasma Oxidation to Increase Tissue Integration of Polyurethane‐Silicone Copolymers for Cardiovascular Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Plasma oxidation following polydopamine deposition can significantly reduce the surface hydrophobicity of polyurethane‐siloxanes without impacting surface roughness, thereby increasing fibroblast viability, adhesion, and extracellular matrix production and secretion.

Predictive value of platelet counts to detect grade of esophageal varices in liver cirrhosis

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Introduction: Bleeding from esophageal varices (EVs) causes a significant risk in cirrhotic patients, often leading to life-threatening complications. While screening endoscopy is the recommended method to identify those at risk, its invasive nature and ...
