Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Longitudinal laboratory testing tied to PCR diagnostics in COVID-19 patients reveals temporal evolution of distinctive coagulopathy signatures [PDF]
Temporal inference from laboratory testing results and their triangulation with clinical outcomes as described in the associated unstructured text from the providers notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is integral to advancing precision medicine. Here, we studied 181 COVIDpos and 7,775 COVIDneg patients subjected to 1.3 million laboratory tests

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to

Eltrombopag for the treatment of inherited thrombocytopenias: a phase II clinical trial
Patients with inherited thrombocytopenias often require platelet transfusions to raise their platelet count before surgery or other invasive procedures; moreover, subjects with clinically significant spontaneous bleeding may benefit from an enduring ...

Clinical significance of stratifying prostate cancer patients through specific circulating genes
We tested a specific panel of genes representative of luminal, neuroendocrine and stem‐like cells in the blood of prostate cancer patients, showing predictive value from diagnosis to late stages of disease. This approach allows monitoring of treatment responses and outcomes at specific time points in trajectories.

Auto-assemblies of Alpha-Cyclodextrin and Grafted Polysaccharides: Crystal Structure and Specific Properties of the Platelets [PDF]
Cyclodextrins (CD) are a family of oligosaccharides with a toroid shape, which exhibit a remarkable ability to include guest molecules in their internal cavity providing a hydrophobic environment for poorly soluble molecules. Recently new types of inclusions of alpha CD with alkyl grafted polysaccharide chains (pullulan, chitosan, dextran, amylopectin,

Hubungan Jumlah Trombosit Dan Nilai Agregasi Trombosit Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 Rsup Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado [PDF]
: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are characterized by an acceleration of thrombopoiesis, an increase of platelet turnover, and a decrease of platelet survival time. These conditions affect the platelet count that manifest as an increase of

Platelet Count and Mean Platelet Volume in Psoriasis Patients [PDF]
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory, immune-mediated disease, and platelets have an important role in the pathomechanisms of psoriasis. Recent studies showed that MPV (mean platelet volume) could be used as a marker of platelet activation. In this study, we aimed to investigate the MPV level and platelet count in psoriasis patients and its association ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.
