Macromolecular approaches to prevent thrombosis and intimal hyperplasia following percutaneous coronary intervention. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cardiovascular disease remains one of the largest contributors to death worldwide. Improvements in cardiovascular technology leading to the current generation of drug-eluting stents, bioresorbable stents, and drug-eluting balloons, coupled with advances ...

Hybrid Nanofibers for Multimodal Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fabrication of wound healing scaffolds based on biocompatible nanofibers. Nanofibers offering high surface area, flexibility, and biocompatibility significantly improved the healing outcome in vivo. Histological, immunological, and anti‐inflammatory markers are noticeably better in treated wounds.

Effects of Computer Navigation versus Conventional Total Knee Arthroplasty on Endothelial Damage Marker Levels: A Prospective Comparative Study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
UnlabelledTotal knee arthroplasty (TKA) inevitably perturbs the femoral medullary canal, which increases blood loss or morbidities associated with marrow embolization postoperatively.

Identification of novel molecular signatures of IgA nephropathy through an integrative -omics analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most prevalent among primary glomerular diseases worldwide. Although our understanding of IgAN has advanced significantly, its underlying biology and potential drug targets are still unexplored.

Ischemia and reperfusion injury in kidney transplantation : relevant mechanisms in injury and repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Ischemia and reperfusion injury (IRI) is a complex pathophysiological phenomenon, inevitable in kidney transplantation and one of the most important mechanisms for non- or delayed function immediately after transplantation.

Paracrine Factor Local Gradient‐Generating System for Engineering Perfusable Vascularized Hepatocyte Tissues with Perfusion‐Induced Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A paracrine factor local gradient (PFLG)‐generating system enables microvessel penetration across 3D hepatocyte tissues. The resulting vascularized constructs recapitulate hepatic sinusoidal hepatocyte—endothelial contact architecture and enhance hepatic functions in vitro.

Islet Endothelial Cells Derived from Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2016
The islet endothelium comprises a specialized population of islet endothelial cells (IECs) expressing unique markers such as nephrin and α-1 antitrypsin (AAT) that are not found in endothelial cells in surrounding tissues. However, due to difficulties in

Platelet-collagen adhesion: evidence for participation of antigenically distinct entities. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Univalent antibody fragments prepared from a rabbit antiserum raised against whole human platelets completely inhibited adhesion of platelets to immobilized trimeric collagen in a defined, Mg2+-dependent, adhesion assay.

siRNA Delivery via Cross‐Linked Gelatin Microparticles Enables Targeted Modulation of Osteogenic‐Vascular Cross‐Talk: An Advanced Human 3D in Vitro Test System for Therapeutic siRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Osteogenic‐angiogenic cross‐talk is a vital prerequisite for vascularized bone regeneration. In this study, we investigated the effects of siRNA‐mediated silencing of two inhibitory proteins, Chordin and WWP‐1, via CaP‐NP‐loaded gelatin microparticles in osteogenically differentiated microtissues.

Data on the circulating levels of endothelial microparticles are elevated in patients with bicuspid aortic valve and are related to aortic dilation

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
The data included here support the research article “Circulating endothelial microparticles are elevated in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) disease and related to aortic dilation” (Alegret et al., 2016 [1]) where circulating levels of platelet endothelial ...
