Bone Organoids: A Novel Tool for Modeling and Managing Skeletal Disorders in Diabetes
This review synthesizes advances in bone organoid engineering and evaluates their potential to model diabetic bone fragility. Current in vitro and animal models do not fully recapitulate diabetes‐associated skeletal phenotypes. Cell‐based and scaffold‐based bone organoids are discussed as complementary approaches to reconstruct multicellular bone ...

Description of an In Vitro Platelet Function Analyzer-PFA-100™
Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 1995A new in vitro system for the detection of platelet dysfunction, PFA-100™* has been developed. It provides a quantitative measure of platelet function in anticoagulated whole blood. The system comprises a microprocessor-controlled instrument and a disposable test cartridge containing a biologically active membrane.

Platelet function analyzer (PFA-100): A tool to quantify congenital or acquired platelet dysfunction
Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine, 2001PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST SYSTEM The instrument aspirates a blood sample under constant vacuum from the sample reservoir through a capillary and a microscopic aperture (147 μm) cut into the membrane. The membrane is coated with CEPI or CADP. The presence of these platelet activators and the high shear rates (5000 to 6000 s–1) under the standardized flow ...

Platelet Function Analyzer: Shear Activation of Platelets in Microchannels
Biomedical Microdevices, 2003Platelet function is suggestive of pathological conditions in cardiovascular diseases. With current insufficient prognostic devices, the need exists for a device to assess complete platelet function. This work presents a preliminary microfluidic device for such analysis based on platelet adhesion under shear flow conditions.
