Arginine methylation as a regulatory ratchet in cancer: From substrate selection to malignant‐state stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Arginine methylation can be viewed as a persistence‐prone post‐translational modification regulated by a network of PRMTs. Competitive and compensatory interactions among PRMTs can redistribute methylation across substrate pools shaped by sequence, structural, spatial, and environmental layers, reinforcing RNA‐processing, chromatin, and signaling ...

‘Must-carry’, special treatment and freedom of expression on online platforms: a European story

open access: yesEuropean Law Open
This paper examines the evolution and implications of ‘must-carry’ obligations in the regulation of online platforms, with a focus on Europe. These obligations, which restrict platforms’ discretion to remove or deprioritise certain content, represent a ...

The battle for TNCs in Latin America: navigating policy trends and sociotechnical controversies in the regulation of ride-hailing platforms

open access: yesTapuya
Over the past decade, the proliferation of Transportation Network Companies (TNCs), such as Uber, DiDi, and Cabify, has significantly disrupted urban mobility across Latin America, igniting intense regulatory debates and clashes in city streets.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Regulation of online platforms

open access: yes, 2019
How to address competition concerns associated with online platforms has become a pressing policy question around the world. And as if that wasn’t enough, a variety of other issues are also in play, from protecting users against harmful content, to the ethical application of artificial intelligence.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

News media lobbying and the EU’s Digital Services Act: Strategies and experiences from the small non-EU state of Norway

open access: yesNordicom Review
The formation of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in the European Union (EU), aiming to regulate platform power, provided a unique policy window to secure media-specific interests vis-à-vis platforms. This study investigates how Norwegian news media actors

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
