Platinum diffusion into silicon from PtSi [PDF]
We have observed platinum diffusion into the silicon underlying a PtSi film. Silicon substrates covered with platinum films were annealed at temperatures from 300 to 800°C to form the silicide.

Processing and properties of high-purity micro-lamellate (NH4)2RuCl6 particles
(NH4)2RuCl6 is an important precursor in the synthesis of Ru powder with high-purity requirement. In this study, high-purity (>99.999 wt%) micro-sized (NH4)2RuCl6 pieces were synthesized by distillation and precipitation from crude Ru powder.

New markers for human ovarian cancer that link platinum resistance to the cancer stem cell phenotype and define new therapeutic combinations and diagnostic tools [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer-related death, due in part to a late diagnosis and a high rate of recurrence. Primary and acquired platinum resistance is related to a low response probability to subsequent lines of ...

Cucurbit[n]uril binding of platinum anticancer complexes [PDF]
The encapsulation of cisplatin by cucurbit[7]uril (Q[7]) and multinuclear platinum complexes linked via a 4,4′-dipyrazolylmethane (dpzm) ligand by Q[7] and cucurbit[8]uril (Q[8]) has been studied by NMR spectroscopy and molecular modelling.

The phase diagram of the uranium-platinum system was constructed from data obtained by thermal analysis, metallographic examination, and X-ray diffraction. The system is characterized by four intermetallic compounds: UPt, formed peritectoidally at 961° C; UPt2, formed peritectically at 1,370° C; UPt3, melting congruently at 1,700° C; and UPt5, formed ...

Effect of Pt impurities on the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of hcp Co: a first-principles study [PDF]
In terms of the fully relativistic screened Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method we investigate the variation in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy (MAE) of hexagonal close-packed cobalt with the addition of platinum impurities.

Unusual DNA binding modes for metal anticancer complexes [PDF]
DNA is believed to be the primary target for many metal-based drugs. For example, platinum-based anticancer drugs can form specific lesions on DNA that induce apoptosis.
