Integrative Bioinformatics and Machine Learning Approaches for Biomarker and Pathway Discovery in Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a highly aggressive thoracic cancer with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. Aims This study employed an integrative transcriptomic and computational approach to uncover potential biomarkers for MPM.

Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma [PDF]
Malignant pleural mesothelioma continues to be a challenge. The diagnosis and treatment of patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma requires a multidisciplinary approach. The diagnosis is best made by thoracoscopic biopsy and the aid of immunohistochemistry. Molecular studies identified inactivation of the neurofibromatosis-2 gene and INK4alpha/ARF

Malignant pleural mesothelioma [PDF]
The incidence of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) has risen for some decades and is expected to peak between 2010 and 2020. Up to now, no single treatment has been proven to be effective and death usually occurs within about 12-17 months after diagnosis. Perhaps because of this poor prognosis, early screening has incited little interest.

Environmental Asbestos Exposure as a Possible Pathway to Early-Onset Pleural Mesothelioma: A Case From Afghanistan and Pakistan to London. [PDF]
We report a case of a 40‐year‐old male with malignant pleural mesothelioma with no prior occupational exposure to asbestos. Environmental exposure as a cause of MPM may come into focus through migration from high environmental asbestos exposure regions in patients with no known occupational exposure.

Purpose: In malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), early assessment of disease status is important. We evaluated the role of mesothelin and osteopontin biomarkers in distinguishing MPM from benign pleural disease. We also, evaluated whether mesothelin and

Interleukin‐5‐producing malignant pleural mesothelioma with eosinophilic pleural effusion
Malignant tumors are often associated with eosinophilic pleural effusion. Here, we encountered a case of interleukin‐5 (IL‐5)‐producing malignant pleural mesothelioma with eosinophilic pleural effusion. The patient was a 50‐year‐old male.
