Low frequency of MTAP co‐deletion with CDKN2A in peritoneal mesothelioma suggests an independent diagnostic role for MTAP

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Aims Loss of MTAP expression by immunohistochemistry (IHC) is widely used as a surrogate for CDKN2A homozygous deletion (HD) in pleural mesothelioma (PM), but its diagnostic value in peritoneal mesothelioma (PeM) is less well defined. We investigated whether the observed limited reliability of MTAP IHC in PeM reflects a lower frequency of MTAP/CDKN2A ...

Pleural mesothelioma from fluoro-edenite exposure: PACAP and PAC1 receptor. A preliminary report

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry
Pleural mesothelioma is a devastating malignancy primarily associated with asbestos exposure. However, emerging evidence suggests that exposure to fluoro-edenite fibers, a naturally occurring mineral fiber, can also lead to the development of pleural ...

Chronic, neutrophilic pericarditis with free‐floating intrapericardial mesothelial‐lined fibrous nodules in a cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract A 15‐year‐2‐month‐old, male, neutered domestic shorthair cat was presented for a 1‐week history of increased respiratory effort and declining appetite. Point‐of‐care ultrasound diagnosed tri‐cavitary effusion, and echocardiography revealed the presence of multiple free‐floating hyperechoic nodules within the pericardium.

Talc Use and Risk of Cancer: An Umbrella Review and Overlapped Analysis

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background This umbrella review aimed to systematically synthesize and critically appraise the available evidence from systematic reviews and meta‐analyses evaluating the association between talc exposure and cancer risk in humans. Methods This umbrella review was conducted in accordance with the PRIOR guidelines and registered in PROSPERO.

Next‐Generation CAR‐T Cell Therapy: From Modular Design to Clinical Expansion

open access: yesExploration, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
Over the past decades, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)‐T cell therapy has evolved from a linear engineering concept into a powerful yet constrained immunotherapy, limited by tumour microenvironment barriers, immune evasion, and manufacturing complexity.

The 9th Edition of the UICC TNM Classification of Malignant Tumours: Updates and Rationale for Change

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 7, Page 1588-1601, 1 October 2026.
ABSTRACT The standard for assessing and recording the extent of the tumour, a necessity for most malignancies, is the Tumour Node Metastases (TNM) classification. The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) TNM committee has defined this since the early 1950s.

The usefulness of full-thickness biopsy during semi-rigid pleuroscopy for differentiating between malignant pleural mesothelioma and non-specific pleurisy

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a rare disease with a poor prognosis; distinguishing it from non-specific pleurisy is essential for determining an appropriate treatment strategy. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility and safety of full-

Analysis of Gene Expression in 3D Spheroids Highlights a Survival Role for ASS1 in Mesothelioma.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
To investigate the underlying causes of chemoresistance in malignant pleural mesothelioma, we have studied mesothelioma cell lines as 3D spheroids, which acquire increased chemoresistance compared to 2D monolayers. We asked whether the gene expression of
