Biosorption of Co(II) by immobilised Pleurotus ostreatus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environment and Pollution, 2009
Cobalt biosorption by Pleurotus ostreatus immobilised in calcium alginate has been studied. The experimental results showed that immobilised Pleurotus ostreatus were effective for removing Co(II) from aqueous solution.

Antimicrobial and Antineoplasic Activity of Pleurotus ostreatus

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2008
The objectives of this work were to evaluate the antimicrobial and antineoplasic activity of Pleurotus ostreatus DSM 1833. To study the antimicrobial activity, the following extracts were prepared: water infusion of the fresh fruiting bodies (B1), dehydrated fruiting bodies (B2), fresh mycelium (M1), and dehydrated mycelium (M2).

Steroidogenesis in the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1999
Abstract The steroid hormones testosterone, androstenedione, progesterone and their metabolic products testosterone acetate and testololactone were identified as endogenously synthesised molecules in the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus . We discuss the possible steroidogenic pathway in the fungus in view of the evolutionary origin of the steroid hormone ...
