DEREGULATION OF PLUM POX RESISTANT TRANSGENIC PLUM 'HONEYSWEET'
Acta Horticulturae, 2007Genetic engineering (GE) has the potential to revolutionize fruit tree breeding. It is an approach that can specifically target genetic improvements and allow for the development of novel, useful traits. While GE does not provide a panacea for all of the difficulties associated with fruit tree breeding, it can be a useful approach to increase the ...

PLUM ROOTSTOCKS FOR INTENSIVE PLUM CULTURE
Acta Horticulturae, 2010At SCDP Valcea a rootstock breeding program started 30 years ago and its main targets were to obtain plum rootstocks suited to the soil conditions from the hill area of Romania (clay soils, thin, wet and with low natural fertility). The breeding program released 7 plum rootstocks for intensive culture.

High tolerance of European plum varieties to plum leptonecrosis
European Journal of Plant Pathology, 1998A 13 year comparative study was carried out on the behaviour of four European and two Japanese plum varieties grown in adjacent rows in an area of northern Italy where plum leptonecrosis is epidemic. Within seven years, 100% of the Japanese plum trees became symptomatically infected.

Plums, although largely consumed as produce, are also used in many commodities and are frequently dried to extend their shelf-life. In this chapter, a math. model of the drying process of plums will be described, as well as an effective procedure to evaluate the model parameters (such as the mass diffusivity in the skin and pulp) from exptl. data.
