The effect of plyometric training on distance running performance
European Journal of Applied Physiology, 2003Previous research has reported that plyometric training improves running economy (RE) and ultimately distance-running performance, although the exact mechanism by which this occurs remains unclear. This study examined whether changes in running performance resulting from plyometric training were related to alterations in lower leg musculotendinous ...

The influence of plyometric training on the freestyle tumble turn
Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport, 1999This study examined the effects of a plyometric training program on freestyle tumble turns. Thirty-eight age group swimmers were assigned to a control group which swam 1.5 hours, three times per week for 20 weeks; or an experimental group which supplemented 1.25 hours of swimming with 15 minutes of plyometrics for the same time frame.

Effects of Plyometric Training Volume and Training Surface on Explosive Strength
Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2013The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of different volume and training surfaces during a short-term plyometric training program on neuromuscular performance. Twenty-nine subjects were randomly assigned to 4 groups: control group (CG, n = 5), moderate volume group (MVG, n = 9, 780 jumps), moderate volume hard surface group (MVGHS, n = 8 ...

Plyometric Training in Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Scoping Review
Clinical Journal of Sport MedicineObjective: Plyometric training (PT) uses the stretch-shortening cycle to enhance force production, commonly used in athletic training and increasingly explored in musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation. However, consensus on its efficacy in MSK rehabilitation remains elusive.
