Laryngeal Transplantation in Cancer Patients: Evaluation of Surgical Outcomes and Functional Recovery

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our pilot clinical study in laryngeal transplantation achieved divergent outcomes: two cases maintained functional speech/swallowing with around 2 year graft survival and have been ongoing, while two succumbed to sepsis (10mo) and hemorrhagic recurrence (11mo).

Treosulfan–fludarabine conditioning in infants with severe combined immunodeficiencies: Extended study of the UK paediatric treosulfan study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 5, Page 1713-1723, May 2026.
Summary Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative therapy for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). Conditioning improves donor engraftment and freedom from immunoglobulin replacement (IgR) but increases the risks of acute and late toxicity. Treosulfan, a reduced toxicity alkylating agent, has emerged as an alternative

Epidemiological Characteristics and Co‐Detection Patterns of Rhinovirus (A/B/C) and Influenza A Virus in a Regional Respiratory Cohort in Hunan, China

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study analyzed 386 rhinovirus infections (dominant Type A, 60.9%; high 73.1% coinfection rate) and Influenza A interactions. Rhinovirus A/B showed mutual exclusivity with Influenza A, while Type C had near‐random association, with temporal prevalence fluctuations observed. ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the epidemiological profile, coinfection

Severe HCoV‐OC43 Pneumonia in a 25‐Year‐Old Woman Following Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 20, Issue 5, May 2026.
This case reports a 25‐year‐old allo‐HCT recipient with severe HCoV‐OC43 pneumonia who responded well to off‐label nirmatrelvir/ritonavir. It is the first such report that show the drug may benefit immunocompromised patients with this infection, though further studies are needed to confirm efficacy.

Rescue by Hypothermic Oxygenated Machine Perfusion for Unexpected Long Prolongation of Cold Preservation Time in Expanded Criteria Donor Kidneys Can Achieve Favorable 2‐Year Outcomes

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) is occasionally used to overcome logistical issues and allow longer cold preservation time (CPT); however, reports regarding these situations in older brain‐dead donors are lacking.

Invasive Fungal Infections After Intestine Transplantation: Epidemiology and Outcomes

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 69, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) represent a major complication after intestine transplantation, with reported incidence rates between 40% and 49%. Isolated Kidney Transplant in Primary Hyperoxaluria‐1 Enabled by Small Interfering RNA (siRNA) Therapy. Is It Time for Change? Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 30, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by excessive oxalate production that leads to nephrocalcinosis or nephrolithiasis and progressive kidney failure, associated with systemic oxalosis that is not reversed by dialysis. Pharmacological treatment is limited.
