CORRELATIONS OF POINT LOAD INDEX AND PULSE VELOCITY WITH THE UNIAXIAL COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH FOR ROCKS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2011
Rock engineers widely use the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of rocks in designing surface and underground structures. The procedure for measuring this rock strength has been standardized by both the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM ...

Tensile strength of pine and ash woods – experimental and numerical study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The mechanical properties define the behaviour of the timber under external loads, resulting directly from the timber anisotropic and heterogeneity characteristics.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Analisis Perilaku Kekuatan Kolom Semi Pracetak Akibat Beban Aksial dan Beban Lateral [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Semi-precast column uses the combination of cast-in-place concrete and precast concrete. In semi-precast concrete column, difference in compressive strength exists between the cast-in-place and precast concrete.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Effects of weld bonding on bending performance and axial compression performance of hat-shaped members

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
This paper discusses the effects of weld bonding for flanges on the 3-point bending strength and axial compression strength of high strength hat-shaped steel sheet members. The effects of weld bonding were different depending on the loading direction and

The effect of contact stresses in four-point bend testing of graphite/epoxy and graphite/PMR-15 composite beams [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of in-plane four-point bend experiments on unidirectionally reinforced composite beams are presented for graphite/epoxy (T300/934) and graphite/polyimide (G30-500/PMR-15) composites.
