Identification of Poison Ivy, Poison Oak and Poison Sumac in Florida

open access: yesEDIS, 1969
Every year, numerous Floridians are accidentally poisoned by coming in contact with one of several plants typically found in Florida parks and woodlands. The most common plant encountered is poison ivy. Poison oak and poison sumac are also found in some of these settings. Poisoning by these plants is largely preventable.

Exploiting Supervised Poison Vulnerability to Strengthen Self-Supervised Defense [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Availability poisons exploit supervised learning (SL) algorithms by introducing class-related shortcut features in images such that models trained on poisoned data are useless for real-world datasets. Self-supervised learning (SSL), which utilizes augmentations to learn instance discrimination, is regarded as a strong defense against poisoned data ...

3‐D Sustained‐Release Culture Carrier Alleviates Rat Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Targeting STING in Transplanted Skeletal Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of mechanisms by which the 3‐D sustained‐release culture carrier prevents accumulation of ROS by continuously releasing C‐176@PDA‐NPs and inhibiting the cGAS‐STING activated by sudden hypoxia, thereby preventing ferroptosis and promoting differentiation in SSCs and ultimately attenuating IVDD progression.

Targeting Replication Fork Processing Synergizes with PARP Inhibition to Potentiate Lethality in Homologous Recombination Proficient Ovarian Cancers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the resveratrol analogue, trans‐4,4′‐dihydroxystilbene (DHS), exhibits synergistic anti‐tumor activity with the PARP inhibitor talazoparib, inducing significant ovarian cancer cell death. The synergistic effect of this combination arises from the concurrent downregulation of homologous recombination factors and the ...

Improving CO Oxidation Catalysis Over High Entropy Spinels by Increasing Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that changing configurational disorder can significantly improve catalytic activity and stability. A series of high entropy spinel oxides (HESOs) are synthesized using air‐stable molecular precursors to build crystal lattices atom‐by‐atom. Spinel oxide powders are extensively characterized with a variety of advanced methods (i.e.

Ru Single Atoms Anchored on Oxygen‐Vacancy‐Rich ZrO2‐x/C for Synergistically Enhanced Hydrogen Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The alkaline HOR performance of ruthenium single atoms electrocatalysts are explored to investigate the catalytic action of ruthenium. Experimental characterization and theoretical simulations further demonstrate that low‐coordination Ru atoms modulate the electronic structure of the reaction site, optimizing hydrogen bonding energy and hydroxyl ...
