Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Going viral − Virus‐targeting nanobodies for research, diagnostics and therapy
The increasing prevalence of viral diseases represents a major threat for global human health. Nanobodies, small binding fragments derived from camelid heavy‐chain antibodies, offer versatile tools for viral research, diagnostics, and antiviral therapy.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

One of the most distinctive characteristics of archaea is their unique lipids. While the general nature of archaeal lipids has been linked to their tolerance to extreme conditions, little is known about the diversity of lipidic structures archaea are ...

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

On the Presence and Role of Polar Lipids in Meibum [PDF]
I read with interest the paper by Chen et al.1 published online on July 29, 2010. The paper is concerned with shotgun (or direct-infusion) lipidomic analysis of normal human meibum by means of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. I noticed with pleasure that Chen et al., along with providing new and important information on the meibomian lipidome,

The Identification of Polar Lipids in Prokaryotes
Prokaryotes possess an enormous variety of polar lipids, primarily phospholipids and glycolipids, that cannot be easily identified at the chemical level.
