DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Full three-dimensional morphology evolution of amorphous thin films for atomic layer deposition

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We introduce a Monte Carlo model based on random deposition and diffusion limited aggregation in order to study the morphological evolution of deposition of nanofilm, which is difficult to carry out by the experimental methods.

Enhancing dynamic actuation performance of dielectric elastomer actuators by tuning viscoelastic effects with polar crosslinking

open access: yes, 2019
Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) have shown great potential in the field of robotics, energy harvesting, or haptics for wearables. However, existing DEA materials typically require prestretching and exhibit time-dependent deformations due to their ...

Directional Detection of Light Dark Matter with Polar Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We consider the direct detection of dark matter (DM) with polar materials, where single production of optical or acoustic phonons gives an excellent reach to the scattering of sub-MeV DM for both scalar and vector mediators.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Edge polarization topology integrated with sliding ferroelectricity in Moiré system

open access: yesNature Communications
Van der Waals moiré heterostructure have been found to exhibits a robust interfacial ferroelectricity down to atomic thickness, and discovering and understanding the complex polarization state in moiré systems is of fundamental interest to condensed ...

Polarization holography materials and applications

open access: yesImaging and Applied Optics 2016, 2016
Modulating orientation of optical anisotropy axis can transform half-wave retardation films into lenses, prisms, axicons, spiral phase plates, and more. Polarization holography, particularly, digital, expands the variety and capabilities of the new generation optics. Article not available.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Elemental topological ferroelectrics and polar metals of few-layer materials

open access: yes, 2023
Ferroelectricity can exist in elemental phases as a result of charge transfers between atoms occupying inequivalent Wyckoff positions. We investigate the emergence of ferroelectricity in two-dimensional elemental materials with buckled honeycomb lattices.
